In Partnership with The National Gallery, London x ARTiSTORY

To Offer a Culinary Van Gogh-Themed Experience

The St. Regis Bangkok is excited to announce the debut of special afternoon tea and beverage selections inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s masterworks in collaboration with The National Gallery, London, an art gallery in Central London and ARTiSTORY, a global leader in the field of art and cultural IP licensing. This distinctive culinary offerings are available for tastemakers from February 1 – May 31, 2024 at The St. Regis Bar.

Afternoon tea is one of The St. Regis’s signature rituals, once embraced and brought to New York society at The St. Regis New York by Mrs. Caroline Astor, the mother of The St. Regis’s founder John Jacob Astor IV. It has evolved to social gatherings of the city’s high society until present times. Echoing the storied tradition of Mrs. Astor, our latest afternoon tea offers a decadent delight inspired by the artist’s classic paintings to make the gastronomic experience more exceptional.

“We're thrilled to present Thailand’s first Van Gogh-inspired afternoon tea together with a bespoke beverage selection, blending the visual beauty of the Post-Impressionist Dutch painter’s works with exquisite culinary artistry. This partnership with The National Gallery, London and ARTiSTORY allows us to showcase our expertise and captivating gastronomic delights through the re-imagination of Vincent van Gogh’s art pieces. The classic style and art direction also suits well with the traditions and timeless stories of The St. Regis brand. This partnership is very special for us as we are honored to be one of inspirational events around the world to celebrate The National Gallery, London’s 200th anniversary in this year,” said Klaus Christandl, General Manager, The St. Regis Bangkok.

Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ serves as the cornerstone of this unique afternoon tea experience created by The St. Regis Bangkok’s culinary team, who artfully weaves the essence of Vincent van Gogh’s inspiration into a delightful collection of edible exquisite masterpieces. Guests embark on a gastronomic journey through a menu that brings his art to life, with each of his work of genius serving as the muse for both sweet and savory creations.

The vibrant ‘Sunflowers’ is represented by a Passion Fruit Bellini Macaron, a Rosewater, Lavender, and Lemon Pie, a Matcha Waffle with Crab Meat and Daikon and a sophisticated Corn, Pinot Blanc Jelly, and Caviar Tart. The ‘Head of a Peasant Woman’, on the other hand, inspires a delightful combination of Blueberry Gateaux, Pate de Fruit, and Pecan Sable, alongside a savory counterpart of Blueberry and Gin-Cured Salmon with Horseradish Mango and Butterfly Pea Sandwich.

‘Long Grass with Butterflies’ is transformed into an Almond Eclair with Chocolate and Hazelnut, and an Almond Gazpacho with Pickled Honeydew Melon. Finally, ‘A Wheatfield, with Cypresses’ is depicted in an Oat and Espresso Crème Anglaise with White Chocolate Painting, and a Chicken and Chestnut Mousseline flavored with Tarragon and Orange. The menu is completed with Wild Berries and Sunflower Seed Scones, symbolizing the rustic and earthy elements in Vincent van Gogh's paintings.

Enhancing the afternoon tea experience, Ivan Zabolotnyi, our Beverage Manager, crafts special drinks, including cocktails and mocktails. Guests can also indulge in exclusive Van Gogh-inspired merchandise items such as The St. Regis Bangkok’s 'Little JJ' teddy bear couples, tote bags, tumblers and more. After stepping into our House of Astor, immersive decorations, highlighting the display of framed replicas of the masterpieces and other sunflower-themed adornments offer a multi-sensory experience to capture picture-perfect moments.

“We have carefully selected our partners, especially the launch of our presence in the new market like Bangkok, and we are highly delighted to collaborate with The St. Regis Bangkok as it has been long acclaimed by the public for its afternoon tea quality and creativity. This special Van Gogh-inspired afternoon tea allows guests to immerse themselves in the essence of the gallery's art pieces, both through the intricately prepared food and the meaningful décor throughout the hotel. I hope this initiative serves as a source of inspiration, paving the way for more innovative and distinguished dining experiences in the city,” said Fei Yu, ArtiStory General Manager of APAC & Greater China.
